I’m the Digital Initiatives Librarian at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and I think a lot about what my role is at a fine art and design college. I’m a liaison librarian to several undergraduate and graduate programs, which means I focus on collection development, pedagogy, and outreach. I have a B.F.A. from MICA and a M.S.L.I.S. from Pratt Institute in New York City. Because of my background, I firmly believe art is information. I’m a first-generation American Latina whose librarianship is guided by critical perspectives and anti-neutrality.
And this is what I’m currently reading: Teaching to Transgress: Education as the Practice of Freedom by bell hooks.
